Hope, where does one get that?

It's almost as elusive as peace.  However, since I am a believer in the Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, all of my hope, joy, and peace comes flowing down upon me like a waterfall.  It fills my soul, and surrounds me like a warm blanket.  I am never alone.  He understands all my thoughts, motives, and feelings.  He talks to me through his word, the bible, and His Spirit guides my steps daily.  I am amazed at his faithfulness to me through the years and am so grateful for his unconditional love towards me....his hand-picked child.  May you find hope, joy, peace, and love through him today.

Lady Friends

There's nothing like a ladies' night out.  As a stay-at-home-mom of two rambunctious boys, I need all the female company I can get ... even if it is on a school night!  My husband and sweet sister-in-law took care of the kids for the evening so I was free for 5 whole hours!  It was great, I'm tired, and quite content.  :)

Confessions of a Fat Lady

Yep.  I think it's official that I am a fat lady.  Time for me to get serious and be consistent in losing weight....dieting isn't my favorite thing since I love cheating with the foods that are "bad" for me.  Exercising isn't my favorite thing either, but once I start I do enjoy the rush of energy and optimistic outlook I have on life afterwards.  Hubby is going to be my accountability partner,so I guess that means I can't lie or hide food wrappers in the trashcan anymore, right?  Sad isn't it?  I didn't really think I had an issue with eating, but looks like from this confession post, I do.  Pray for me and encourage me, ok?  Oh, and don't let me get away with anything because I will try!!  You've been warned.  :)  By the way, I already blew it today.....I guess one can of diet coke doesn't cancel out the bag of powdered donuts I just finished, huh?   AAARRRRGGGHHHH!

Still Learning...

Ok, so I'm a little biased, but I really do have the cutest kids in the world.  I love how they use their imaginations and have no limits or inhibitions when it comes to what the natural world calls impossible.  As the bible says, "all things are possible with God", at least that's my paraphrase.  For them toys come to life, a box of sand is a huge desert, and our dog is the fastest horse in the world (and best friend).  I'm also realizing that letting them watch television is affecting them as well.  My oldest absorbs movies like a scholar devours books.  Information, whether fiction or not, is what they are gleaning.  I think I should definitely and thoughtfully consider what I'm allowing to invade their little brains.  I'd rather it be positive messages and a learning experience vs. pure and stupid entertainment.  There, now I'm convicted.

Easter weekend Fun

We had a great Easter weekend retreat with some great people in the deep piney woods.  My oldest caught 3 fish, and my youngest lost his trike in the lake....it was later retrieved via canoe.  :)  My oldest also enjoyed the giant red dirt pile (playing king of the mountain), catching frogs, falling in the muddy pond, and crying when he didn't find the Easter egg with a soldier in it.  Long day.  We got to know some new church people and played games til late.  Note to self: when roasting hot dogs be sure to use a longer more sturdy stick, the hairs on my finger knuckles were stinging from the heat.  So, what have we learned??  That we'd like to do it all over again next year, LOL!!  Happy Easter to all.  Jesus loves you, He really does.

Obedience

Sunday was sweet.  My oldest went to a skating party.  He said God spoke to his heart and told him to go be part of the race for his age group.  I told him he'd better obey God then.  So, after the race started a smaller fellow fell down and my son stopped to help him up.  They scooted (not skated) around part of the rink together.  How precious to be so sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading, even when He tells you to do something you weren't too keen on doing.

"Earl Grey, hot."

So I'm still fighting this weird head/throat/nose thing, and the tummy bug is finally at bay.  My favorite consolation, besides my sweet boys...."Star Trek: TNG"  a little earl grey if you please....hot  ;)

There once was a young couple who were drawn together by the Great Matchmaker. The young man was going to college in the northern part of the country. The young lady attended college in the southern part of the country. They had met through a seemingly normal event of a gathering of friends in the south. While coming to pick up the lady, a mutual friend invited the two to ride in her car.  The young man stepped out of the car to open the door for the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. They rode together talking a great deal about the direction their lives were taking, about their faith in the Living God, and about school. This young lady was delighted to listen to the young man who spoke with enthusiasm about his desire to serve his God and love other people. Months went by, and the two fell in love via long distance. One Easter break, the young lady got permission from her family to fly up to the northern country to see her beloved. She was treated with the utmost respect and courtesy by the young man's friends. His female friends accommodated her with a room to stay in. The young man had worked hard all that winter and early spring to save up enough money to treat the young lady to a special weekend. He took her to his favorite sights in the city, he took her to the finest restaurants, they went to a live musical production, and then a carriage ride with two gifts waiting for her inside. The first gift was a long stem red rose, the other was a framed poem and picture of the two of them. In gratitude, the young lady turned to the handsome young man next to her and kissed his cheek. That moment and that ride sealed the relationship. As a special heavenly blessing, a double rainbow was seen in the sky as the sun set behind the city. That was twelve years ago, and I still believe I am the most blessed of all young ladies.
